Harky’s Heroes for Kids was able to help 15-year old Anthony who was the lone survivor of a house fire that killed 4 of his loved ones in New Salem/Voorheesville. We reached out to his aunt following the fire and found out what he really loved and wanted. Our goal was to bring a little happiness and help this young man in need during this very sad time. That is one of the main goals of Harky’s Heroes for Kids.
For Anthony, we purchased hundreds of dollars in brand new fishing gear, a new Penn rod and reel, a backpack, a gaming headset, a portable game player with games, a $100 gift card to Sony Play Station, a $20.00 donation from Five Guys in Guilderland (his favorite restaurant), and secured a free Lake George fishing charter thanks to Marino’s Charters. In addition, one nice lady made a generous donation directly to Anthony in the amount of $500.00. While these are mostly material things, we hope that they will bring him happiness, make his days and months a little easier, and keep his late father close to him when he’s out fishing…which they loved to do together.
